Do I need Holiday Cancellation Insurance in case I need to cancel? We consider adequate travel insurance to be essential for any holiday in the UK as you would with a holiday abroad. It is a condition of your contract with us that you should consider having your own holiday cancellation insurance in place at the time of booking. Please read our full cancellation policy on our terms Any cancellations must be taken up with your insurance provider and we should be notified as soon as possible.
How can we make payment? Once we have received your booking, we will send you a link to pay by card via Worldpay. This is a secure link, but please check your junk/spam folder if it does not arrive in your usual inbox. We can also accept payments via bank transfer (UK only) or card payments over the telephone (please refer to your booking confirmation for full details).
What time is arrival/departure? Arrival time is from 4.00pm. On your arrival, please stop at the Reception. We now have an outside key collection area where the lodge key will be available to collect - your surname will also be shown. There is also a map showing where your lodge is located. Key collection will only be from 4.00pm, please do not arrive before this time as the key will not be available. Lodges must be departed by 9.30am on the day of departure, so that we can prepare for our next guests.
What happens if we cannot arrive until late evening? If your arrival is going to be later than 8.00pm, please telephone us to let us know.
What are the car parking arrangements? There is safe private parking next to each lodge with additional spaces available on the main car park.
Is there a view of the Loch? All of our lodges have views over Loch Tay and the Ben Lawers Mountain Range from the large, glass fronted balconies. Please click on this link https://bracken-lodges.com/location/Click on LODGE LOCATION MAP to see the location of the lodges.
What do we need to bring? Food, drink and personal toiletries. We supply an initial supply of washing up liquid, toilet roll, kitchen roll, bathroom/kitchen cleaner, dish cloths, bin bags, salt & pepper, etc. We provide bed linen (hollowfibre duvets/pillows) and one hand/bath towel per person. Beds are made up for your arrival. Please bring your own towels if visiting the local swimming pool or beach area.
Where are the nearest shops/fuel? The village of Kenmore (5 miles) has two well stocked village shops one in the Main Square and the other at the Courtyard, over the bridge. Aberfeldy has its own butcher and the the local bakery stocks local produce. Dows have a great range of freshly cooked/frozen ready meals, ideal for self-catering. There is a deli at Errichel Farm, on the Crieff Road outside Aberfeldy, which is well stocked with ready meals and fresh produce. There are small Co-op supermarkets in the towns of Aberfeldy and Killin and an Asda Express at the fuel station in Aberfeldy. There is an Aldi store in Crieff and Tesco or Asda Click and Collect are available in Perth as well as the usual large supermarkets. Asda do deliver but please ensure that you are here to collect/unpack your shopping - we are unable to do this for you. Please include your mobile number when placing your order and Sunday or Monday delivery slots tend to be easier to book than a Saturday. Delivery drivers must wait at the reception area and contact you on arrival. Fuel is available at Aberfeldy and Killin, where there are also rapid chargers for electric cars. There are also rapid chargers at Taymouth Marina and Mains of Taymouth Golf Course. Due to our business insurance conditions, the charging of electric vehicles on site via an extension cable is strictly prohibited.
Can we bring a pet? Our lodges are strictly no pet properties and we do not allow them to sleep overnight in vehicles. Day visitors are not permitted to bring their dogs to the park.
Is there wifi? Free wifi is available in each lodge.
Can I get a mobile signal? Mobile signal is generally very good.
Are there laundry facilities? We have a purpose built laundry with commercial washing machine and tumble dryer available for your use. The machines are coin operated (£2, £1, 50p. 20p) and washing powder is provided. Please bring your own supply of coins. All lodges have an iron, ironing board, clothes airer and have access to an outside clothes airer.
How accessible are the lodges? We have an accessibility statement which will hopefully let you see how accessible the lodges are, i.e. how many steps, layout, etc. Click here to read.
Do the lodges have hot tubs? No, we do not have any hot tubs and guests are not permitted to bring inflatable hot tubs. Beinn Ghlas Lodge has a jacuzzi bath in the main bathroom.
Can we smoke in the lodge? Our lodges are strictly no smoking properties. Smoking is permitted outside the lodges, but all cigarette ends must be properly extinguished and disposed of properly.
Can we barbeque? You may bring your own barbeque or disposable bbq if you wish, please remember to bring your own matches, etc. They can be used in the vicinity of the lodges on the large rocks nearby or the bricks provided but must not be placed on the balconies, grass or picnic table. You can also bbq at the lochside if you wish.
Do I need to clean my lodge on departure? On departure you agree to leave your accommodation clean, tidy and undamaged. Lodges must be departed by 9.30am in order for us to prepare for our next guests.
Can we fish? Free fishing for trout is available from the loch frontage which is approx. 400m from the lodges. Any bait or method can be used and no permit is required. Boats are available to hire at Loch Tay Lodges, near Killin. We do not have fishing equipment available to hire but cheap outfits can be purchased before your arrival in large supermarkets or online.
Can we bring our kayak or paddleboard? Access to the loch is by various footpaths from the lodges. Kayaks and paddleboards can be carried to the loch frontage from there. Children must be supervised at all times at the lochside.
Can we bring our bicycles? Bracken Lodges are located on the National Cycle Route No.7 and there are many fantastic cycle routes and tracks in the area, including Glassie Bike Park, Aberfeldy and Comrie Croft, near Crieff. Bikes must not be brought inside the lodges at any time and can be stored safely outside the lodges. Please bring your own padlocks.
Can we hire bicycles? Bikes are available to hire in the villages of Kenmore, Killin and Aberfeldy. At the time of writing, Taymouth Marina, the Outdoor Shop in Killin and Beyond Adventure in Aberfeldy have bikes available to hire.
Can we have visitors? Whilst we appreciate that you may wish to have day visitors whilst staying with us, they are not permitted to stay overnight or bring their dogs to the park.
Do you have a play park? We do not have a designated play park, but have 40 acres of wonderful woodland and grassland, which is a haven for children to explore. There is a fantastic play park at Victoria Park in Aberfeldy and also play parks in the villages of Acharn, Kenmore and Killin.
Where is the nearest swimming pool? In Aberfeldy, the community campus provides a swimming pool, gym and library. During school holidays an activity timetable is available. A larger pool can be found at Perth Leisure Centre. Taymouth Marina at Kenmore has a large communal hot tub and sauna.
Are there restaurant/bars nearby? The surrounding areas of Kenmore, Killin, Aberfeldy, Ben Lawers, Grandtully, Dunkeld and Pitlochry offer a variety of restaurants, pubs, hotels and takeaways. https://www.visitaberfeldy.co.uk/fooddrink
